    Hard decisions.

    Sometimes life throws you a curve ball, hard and fast. You dont have any warning and certainly no hope of catching it, all you are faced with is waiting for the impact and try to recover from it afterwards.

    I have to sell most of my horses I have been told today. The people who I lease land from are setting up their own stud now and want my horses out.
    I dont have a contract lease. It has been a lease of land on good will, so I cannot complain as for 2 years now I have had free grazing!
    But we are due to move at the end of this year onto our own land and feel hurt and sad that things wont turn out how I planned.
    I have to sell the horses as there is no grazing near where I live for them. As they are miniatures it is even harder to find grazing.

    All I want to do is cry. Sorry for being a big soppy fool. But I love all my wee equines and it just tears me apart knowing I have to sell them on.

    I am putting my foot down when it comes to Jasper and my palomino mare. I know I can put a couple of minis at the Pony Club grounds so they are ok but the rest will have to go.

    I am so sorry to hear that you have to do this . Wish we were closer so we could help you out. We have 5 mini's of our own . How many do you have.How long is it going to take them to set up . How much land do they have .Would they let you fence of a smaller area just till the end of the year. Would you consider maybe leasing the ones you have to sell. There maybe someone in the mini socitey that could help they might know someone who could help. {Feel-bad-00020072} I feel for you and what you haveing to sell them.

    Hard decisions.

    The people own 5 acres, I have 6 minis. 2 infoal mares and 3 other mares and a stallion. Yes they will let me fence off part of a paddock but its not enough to sustain all of mine. Its a bad time of year to sell as well as they are all getting their winter coats so they look rather scruffy.
    Husband said not to worry about it to much as it will all work out, as things tend to do, just need to explore my options a little more. Good advice I guess.

    I wish I could help out Nippy cause your moving down my way I think I remember you saying. If I had more room I'd say ship them down here and I'd look after them for you. What a shame to be treated like that. Have they given you a time frame.. It takes time to set up a stud unless they are going buying random stock.. Good luck. My heart is breaking for you. With my 4 horses I have 3 that are ours and if I had to sell them .. well I be crying too... Hopefully someone will be able to help you out until you move. {Love-000200C5}
    Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

    Yes we are moving to Wanaka. Currently looking for alternative grazing. I dont hold it against the owners of the land as its their right to say they wish I move my lot out. Like I said I had free grazing for 2 years now, not bad really....just wish it was ok to keep them there until we move. I haven't been given a time as yet when they want them gone but its in the range of...soonish! I am to have a sit down meeting with them this weekend and see what the options are.
