Several horses were stranded and one died after a creek flooded their Manilus, N.Y., pasture, The Post-Standard reported. An SPCA officer said the horses were being kept in "unhealthy, unsafe conditions."

A rescue team--which included emergency crews, the SPCA, and the state police--used small boats to approach the horses and lead them to safety.

Paul Whorrall, Manlius Deputy Fire Chief, told the paper a horse on the farm was rescued from the same situation last year.

The horses have been moved to a private stable while officials investigate the case, The Post-Standard reported.
