Consider adopting your next horse
There are so many high quality, sound, sane horses available for adoption. They come in all breeds and simply need a committed home. One especially good website for horse people with moderate experience is New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program: www.horseadoption.com They have about 25 available horses, all evaluated and started in their transition to pleasure mounts, for adoption fees of under $400. A two year commitment is required, but the horse is yours after that.

Consider adopting your next horse
I am all for adopting and know several people that do a large amount of adopting of horses from feedlots. There last stop before the slaughterhouse. Some are very nice horses indeed.
I happen to be a big mustang fan and lately they come real cheap as well....I just need to win that darn lottery.

Do you have young horses too, or all horses are older?
Not that I'm saying anything about old horses - I was just wondering.

Consider adopting your next horse
I watched a horrifing movie on Utube about the horses at slaughter houses, its given me nightmares. If only I could save even one of those horses that would be great. I had tears streaming down my face watching a big majestic paint being carted off in a huge cramped truck with many many other horses to their doom.

If you are game and have a strong stomach watch this. Its about the horse slaughter and meat auctions.

Re:Consider adopting your next horse
Adopting horses is a great idea! I am sure alot of those horses are perfect equines to be adopted rather than strung up for meat. There is nothing like this where I am from (NZ), I mean theres adoption of horses but not the huge auctions of horses. Ok, take back my words as there is once a year an auction for the wild Kaimanawa horses. They are over populating the desert area they live in and so they get rounded up, sorted into groups(fillies, colts and stallions, not al just a certain number) and the rest get let go again. Many people adopt those horses as they are tough strong mounts and end up having a soul connecting bond with their owners.

I think they have none. It must of been hard to film that video. I'd be balling my eyes out, sobbing and going mental at the people. Most likely even doing a wonderwoman leap over those steel bar pens and try to gather each and every abled bodied horse out of there.
Yeah, if only it were that simple.
