www.horsesring.com - I can Not submit photos

I can Not submit photos - 2006/08/26 00:19 Not that I have not tried. I did manage to get a photo on under my profile but not one will upload to the Photo Album nor can I put one on a post.
I tried various methods I have used on other horse boards (I know each has thier own little way).
Any hints..any instructions available??

To submit a photo to the gallery, click on "Submit Photos" on the User Menu, just bellow the logout button.
Click on browse, and locate the photo locally on your computer.
Fill in name, keywords and description and when you're done, click on the "Upload" button.

To attach an image to a post, clikc on "Browse" next to the text "Select Image file to attach", just bellow the text area for writing posts messages, again locate the file you want to upload locally and when you press "submit" the image will be attached to the post.

Alternatively you can use the {img} button above the text area of the posts.

If you have any further questions, plese don't hasitate to ask.
I'll probably arrange a site FAQ and add the info there too...

I am not giving up I hope to be able to post pic's directly on my posts

I am happy to report I did manage to submit photos to the Photo Album thanks for your help

Re:I can Not submit photos - 2006/09/17 23:06 Hi, just wondering if you ever figured out how to down-size your images...I just recently figured out that as long as you don't push the ' ignore pre-set image sizing' when uploading to the photo album then it will down-size them for you...that's what it looks like it must be doing....that's probably why you didn't have a problem putting them in the photo album....but let me know if you need some help on down-sizing your imasges before you try to load them, and I can probably guide you thru the process...
It's really simple, as long as you have photosuite on your computer, or just about any program like that....basically, you just see how large the original image is first, open it up with your photosuite, or any program that let's you create new files, then let's say your image was 400 x400 pixels, 100 kb's...then you would create a new file 1/2 that size, 200 x200 pixels, which should size it down to 50 kb's....then you copy the original image and paste it to the new file, then save the new file as whatever you want to name it,....if you want it to have the same name as the original, you will have to add '1,or 2,or3,etc. or a, or b, or c,etc....unless you delete the original.
Anyway that's basically how it works, but if you need some help, just hollar.....Mary

I have photobucket for storing my photos online. What amazes me with my editing tool just how absolutely small a pic' has to be to come out 50kb, so here is another attempt. Just a few of my horses out in the pasture:

YAHOO!! bummer thought the picture is almost too small now, to really see much. I think it could have been a bit bigger. At least i know how it is done now.

Re:I can Not submit photos - 2006/09/19 23:48 yeah, that looks great( and bigger...)when I first started up-loading images to the web, I used to get so frustrated when I had to down-size...being an artist, I had way more images than the average person, of course....but after I started building my own web-site, it din't take long at all to figure out that sometimes space has to be rationed for different reasons..
That is a pretty horse...do you have a frontal view that you could post ?...cheers

do need to keep it down to...apparently 400X297 at 32 kbs is still rather large......Is it just my PC or can anyone else see the photos .?

I remember when I first started building my own web-site...
My program is NOT a 'WYSIWYG' (what you see is what you get)...even tho I would see it one way in my preview browser,
it would load to the web completely different ........

oh, that was so dis-gusting........
I would just have to punch buttons ' in the blind ', and hope
for the best...

...as a matter of fact, sometimes it was
down-right embarrassing ...

..the only way I could tell
how it looked was to upload to the web, like I said,
so therefore what I was seeing, so were however many
visitors I had while it was up-loaded...which most of the time what they saw was a complete disaster..

....
until I learned more about my program....

Anyway, I'm sure they'll figure it out eventually.....
